The demands of yachting to the new Port Authority of the Balearic Islands

The nautical association of Pimeef joins the vote of confidence of the Náutico de Ibiza and hopes that the current systematic abandonment will end

Van der Hooft: "We all agreed two months ago to modify the Yacht Club's contingency plan and they still have not responded to us"

Like the Club Náutico de Ibiza, the association of sailing sports integrated into Pimeef chaired by Ramon van der Hooft, disfigured the president of Port Authority of the Balearic IslandsJavier Sanz strong>, the behavior of his predecessors at the head of the entity he presides because the systematic administrative silence is very "frustrating" from an administration that, as surprising as it may seem, "it is difficult for it to answer you." At the same time, he thanked the change of mood that the arrival of Sanz to the position has brought about, to whom the employers give a vote of confidence as a man of the sea as president of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation. > and as former president of Real Club Náutico de Palma.

«The new president is a breath of fresh air that we needed. He assured us that he was very willing to study all our requests. It is a message of hope. The feeling is very positive and it seems that there is a lot of willingness to change things," the CEO of Boating Group, a company with four heads: nautical rental with more than 20 luxurious boats, both its property and third parties, boat maintenance through Servinautic, the comprehensive management of its clients' boat so that they only worry about sailing and the exclusive distribution for the Balearic Islands of the shipyard Vanquish.

Contingency plan

An example of what is being reported by the Ibiza and Formentera Nautical Association integrated into Pimeef  is the contingency plan in force for the Ibiza Yacht Club as a result of the unfortunate decision to eliminate the shelter for the sports dock and use floating pontoons to moor the fleet that It consists of reserving 100 berths in Marina Botafoc for eight months to move the boats when there is a strong storm.

All the actors affected by the measure that are part of the Contingency Plan Committee have agreed that the plan will be active for six months, from November to April, instead of eight, from September to April, and that the 100 vessels affected moor in Botafoc during the validity of the plan to avoid the hassle of moving them if necessary. However, the Port Authority does not move despite the fact that "it is very easy, it involves changing the wording of an article and does not require investment."

The agreement has been signed by the employers, the CNI, the Marina Botafoc concessionaire (Ocibar), the pilots, the maritime captain and the director of the port of Ibiza, Ignacio Revilla. "Two months ago we sent the new proposal to Jorge (Nasarre, director of APB) and he still has not responded to us," lamented Van der Hooft.

This measure affects nautical charter and private sports boating since it deprives Botafoc users of two useful months to do business or navigate. "We all agree," he emphasized.

Auctions

Added to the lack of responses to his requests is the criticism of the fundraising drive behind the contests for a few years that only prioritize the fee over business projects and whose increased rates end up being paid by users. . "He (Javier Sanz) told us to be aware of the aberration," explained the businessman, who hopes that "there will be a change in the hot potatoes of the next contests."

Stranded

As for Special Plan for the Port of Ibiza, to whose imminent initial approval the mayor of the city, Rafa Triguero, has committed, and of which the details are unknown , Van der Hooft hopes that it will contemplate an expansion of the docking area and that it will reserve some 25,000 square meters and that it will be managed by two concessions, one for larger lengths and another for smaller lengths in an open regime so that the nautical industry can work.

Charter dock

He also demands a pontoon for charter as all the ports of the Balearic Islands have. “Where there is more charter activity is where we do not have an exclusive dock,” he lamented. The ideal location, in his opinion, is where traffic between Ibiza and Formentera now docks, since the city would benefit from "quality tourism" that rents charters.

The objective of having exclusive docks is to enjoy more advantageous rates that facilitate the sustainability of the sector.

Special Plan

The nautical employers' association also demands a dry marina from the Special Plan that will be like "a box of surprises" because they "don't teach us anything."

The businessman also demands that the Port Authority be more sensitive and close, and that there be more dialogue than one Navigation Council per year and more events in Ibiza. "They should take us more into account because we contribute a lot of business to the Port Authority," he said.
